Covid-19 Watch: 2,054 new cases, says Health Ministry


PETALING JAYA: Malaysia recorded 2,054 new Covid-19 infections on Sunday (Oct 23), says the Health Ministry.

The Health Ministry said through data released on its KKMNow portal on Monday (Oct 24) that this brings the new total to 4,882,059 cases since the pandemic began.

Of the 2,054, one is an imported case while 2,053 are local.

The ministry also said through its CovidNow portal that there were 1,975 recoveries on Sunday, bringing the total number of active cases in Malaysia to 27,378.

Of the active cases, 96% or 26,275 individuals are undergoing home quarantine,while 3.9% of active cases or 1,060 individuals need to be hospitalised, with 43 warded in intensive care units (ICU) throughout the country.

Of that number, 16 require ventilator support.
